Welcome to Kathy Johncox Books. If you like women’s fiction, romance, chick-lit, more serious fiction, or just fiction, plain and simple, this is the place for you. The stories in my first book, “The Last Generation of Women Who Cook,” were written over a period of several years as weekly writing exercises with a friend. Soon I had a number of stories that I could expand in ways that resonated with readers. The stories involve food, relationships and emotion: a young man tries to rekindle love through the buying of his wife’s apple pies at a bake sale but is foiled by a beignet, and other stories that equate pasta with anger, rice with doubt and soup with revenge. Some readers have said it makes for appetizing reading.
